Welcome to the romantic South Pacific Islands at the Disney Polynesian Resort. This Deluxe Disney Resort has swaying palm trees, white sandy beaches, winding paths set amidst dense tropical foliage and torch lamps. Adventure and romance are alive and well in this tropical paradise.
The Disney Polynesian Resort opened in 1971 as one of the original resorts at Walt Disney World. The hotel hosts 847 rooms in 11 longhouses. The two or three story high longhouses are named after South Pacific Islands.The longhouses are currently being refurbished. The main building at the resort is the Great Ceremonial House which is a virtual jungle featuring a three story atrium lobby with verdant foliage and tropical waterfalls.
The resort has a tiki lighting ceremony on the property on select evenings.
Transportation to the Magic Kingdom is with the magical monorail or a peaceful boatride. Guests can also walk to the nearby Ticket and Transportation Center to take a monorail to Epcot Center. Buses serve other areas.
